MISSION A full strategic partner with our state associations and congressional delegations enabling effective communication of our message to continuously improve our relevance, readiness, modernization and quality of life; while promoting our rich militia heritage as the nation’s first military organization.
VISION To serve as America’s strongest advocate for promoting the highest levels of readiness, modernization and quality of life for our National Guard family.
ABOUT US National Guard Association of the United States is the nation’s oldest military association. Militia officers formed the association in 1878 to obtain better equipment and training by educating Congress on militia requirements. Today, with a membership of more than 40,000 Army and Air National Guard officers, NGAUS continues that mission in support of 450,000 current Guard men and women, their families, their employers and all Guard retirees. Membership is open to all those who hold or have ever held a warrant or commission in the Guard. Associate membership programs are available to enlisted personnel, family members, other Guard supporters and corporations.
