Enginuity Basics

Enginuity’s architecture is almost infinitely scalable and can be configured from 250 cc to 6 liters. For specific applications, customers can request it be produced in various cylinder counts depending on packaging requirements. In addition, Enginuity engines are mirror-balanced, allowing them to operate with near-zero vibration across all RPM ranges. But most importantly, Enginuity engines cut particulate emissions by 30% when compared to conventional engines, making us a truly green technology.

Enginuity Basics Facts

How Enginuity Does It

The key to Enginuity’s high efficiency lies in the adiabatic interface created between the two opposing pistons.  The reduction in thermal loss through what would have been the engines ‘cylinder head’ means that more fuel is converted to power instead of being lost as heat.  Since the reduction in thermal loss is approximately 30% Enginuity’s engine will always be approximately 30% more efficient than an old fashioned block-and-head engine of similar displacement.

Low Emissions Made Possible

When you reduce the amount of fuel that you put into an engine you automatically reduce the amount of emissions created by the engine.  The 30% reduction in fuel inputs – which our architecture makes possible – translates exactly into a 30% reduction in emissions.  This single fact makes Enginuity’s engines a natural choice for consumers and manufacturers who are interested in producing power with the smallest possible carbon footprint.

Still Making Our Systems Better

Enginuity has developed and patented an adjustable compression ratio (ACR) method which is far less complicated than those currently on the market for manufacturers like Nissan.  Leveraging the simplicity of our engine design our engineers have built an adjustable compression ratio system which only requires two simple mechanisms to adjust the engine’s compression-ratio across an almost infinite spectrum of ratios. For the military, this means that a single engine can run on anything from alcohol to diesel fuel, effortlessly cycling between different compression ratios as conditions require.  This tremendous advance also means that passenger cars will get better fuel economy than was previously possible.  The automobile manufacturing industry considers 15% to the efficiency increase possible with adjustable compression ratio, if you take that 15% and add to to our already outstanding 35% to 50% efficiency improvements, is axiomatic that we have the ability to reach an efficiency improvement 50% to 65%.

Mirror Balanced Advantage

Enginuity’s unique engine architecture offers advantages over and above efficiency as well.  Enginuity’s family of engines are ‘mirror balanced’.  In other words, whatever is happening on one side of the engine, the exact same thing is happening on the other side at the exact same time, in the exact opposite direction.  This means that inertial forces generated by rotating mass are canceled-out without the need for balance shafts or other inertial dampening devices.  Obviously, the fewer components you have spinning, the less energy is required to spin them. So there is a corresponding uptick in efficiency, but the biggest operational advantage is that our engines simply do not vibrate.

Why Is Low Vibration Important?

Just imagine being able to put your hand on an engine and being unable to tell if it was running or not: We can do that. In the industry there are many applications where power is needed, but vibration must be absent, like in the field of private independent generation.  In conventional co-generation systems the engine and the tanks must be kept separated because the engine’s vibration would quickly shake the tank to pieces. Having multiple components complicates the design and installation of the units, increasing costs.  Because of our vibration free operation, we can combine the engine and the tank while still estimating a 20-year lifespan for our unit.

This Next Bit Is Really Important

Most importantly, we have accomplished all of these goals by making the engine’s mechanical operation simpler, enabling high efficiency at low cost.
