Engine and Generator Technology For MANY Markets

Today’s U.S. soldier can be equipped with any number of electrical devices – from night vision goggles, to radios, GPS systems, laptops, chemical and biological-agent detectors, and more.  Many of these devices – present and future – rely on batteries. In addition, field workstations also need recharging, usually today using larger generators or the battery of an idling vehicle – which can be problematic due to the noise and heat signatures.

As a result, there is a huge push by the U.S. military to find new, inventive ways to keep the battlefield “powered up.”  Improved photovoltaics, fuel cells, and power-conservation software will be a large part of the solution. Enginuity technology is also under study by the U.S. Department of Defense (D.O.D.) as perhaps an additional solution.

Last summer our company was awarded a Small Business Innovative Research Contract (SBIR) from the U.S. Department of Defense (Army) for our RIHGS System, a next-generation hybrid generator driven by Enginuity’s patented engine technology.

The contract is for a Phase I feasibility study for the development of a new generator set. The system is truly state-of-the-art and we believe it will open doors for us to demonstrate our unique technologies and concepts to not only the D.O.D. but other government agencies as well.

Currently, we are on schedule to complete Phase I in time for an award of a Phase II contract in the middle of this year.  A Phase II contract would deliver a proof-of-concept prototype, and system test and evaluation.  We are excited about the prospects.

We blog a lot about our E|ONE, a private home generation appliance for the home, and rightfully so, as it is game-changing technology.  However, Enginuity Power Systems is redefining engine and generator technology for MANY markets.  And our long-term focus is not just the United States, but the world.
