11 Nov Net Metering Makes Best Sense
There are many benefits to installing the E|ONE, a private home generation appliance, in the home: reliable electric power fueled by underground natural gas lines safely away from storms and fires; cost-saving total home space and water heating solutions; and the cost benefits of net metering.
Net metering allows utility customers to generate their own electricity and potentially sell it back to the local electric utility. We believe it has a strong future.
First, net metering means jobs. Currently, solar is the biggest driver for off-the-grid power, and the manufacturers and installers in this industry already number in the hundreds of thousands. The E|ONE will only add to this total, and we think dramatically.
Second, net metering can help take the spikes out of the consumer demand curve for electricity, lessoning the chance for costly brown outs and, worse, rolling black outs like we saw this year in California. No downside here.
Third, net metering practices act to reduce the costly power losses inherent in long-distance transmission and distribution, which amounts to 5% of all electricity generated. A tremendous waste benefiting from an even partial solution.
Net metering just makes best sense, and its part of the reason total home power and heating solutions – led by our award-winning E|ONE – have a strong future.
