29 Mar Five Reasons New Home Buyers Are Going Green
We’ve blogged about how first-time home buyers are very aware of what they want in a residence, and that many are going “green.” Let’s dive deeper into the “why” behind that trend.
First, today’s new and improved home buyers are very aware of what’s out there – and very pragmatic. They realize that green features – from energy efficient appliances to solar electric systems – will lower their energy bills to the point of saving thousands of dollars over time. So they see no reason to waste money.
Second, younger buyers (especially … though not exclusively) are paying attention to the needs of future generations, and want to do what they can to ensure a greener future.
Third, a sustainable lifestyle generally means a healthier living environment. A tankless water heater or triple pane windows may not directly improve your health, but lower energy bills lowering stress levels will likely have an impact.
Fourth, when it comes to purchasing a new home, buyers seeking an ‘Energy Efficient Mortgage’ may be able to borrow more – if part of the cost reflects green features or improvements. It’s certainly worth looking into.
Finally, when it comes to selling your home, green features simply can help your property rise above the rest. It just adds curb appeal.
From purchase to sale, green is a great home ownership strategy, and we see the trend as only growing stronger.
Our impending E|ONE, a private home generation appliance – providing extremely efficient electrical power, hot water, and space heat – will soon provide another option on the long list of green features for a new or improved home. We’re excited about it, and new home buyers will be too.
I invite you to learn more about the E|ONE as we continue to build out the compelling story of product whose time is soon to come.
