26 Apr It’s Not Radical, But Its 18 Patents Make It Revolutionary
There’s a natural tendency to resist radical new technology as a solution to an urgent problem. People in general like to have a “track record” on performance, so that they can feel confident in their decision to use it.
The power technology that drives our upcoming E|ONE, a private home generation appliance for the home and the E|TWO for commercial installations – an opposed piston, mirror-balanced power device – may, at first glance, seem like radical new technology.
It’s quite the contrary. Opposed piston prime movers have been around for more than 100 years, with an earned reputation for fuel efficiency. Aircraft equipped with these power devices in the 1930s could fly an astounding 6,000 miles without refueling. Trains and submarines powered by alternative versions of the technology could travel tremendous distances as well.
Today we’re also appreciating that the lower pressures and temperatures inherent to opposed piston operation equates to a reduction in emissions – our power device easily surpasses both EPA and CARB emissions requirements.
Enginuity’s modern take on this technology goes even further, and incorporates a mirror-balance design – simply said, each half of the device resembles a reflection of the other, as if seen in a mirror. Research has determined that if the working, opposing parts of the power device are uniform in mass, it can operate with almost imperceptible vibration. For you and me, that means long-lasting, ultra-quiet operation inside a home or building.
Then we went further still. Our technology can be fueled by natural gas, propane, or a number of other alternative fuels. For the home-owner and small businessperson operating our E|ONE, it means the system can operate off the buried natural gas grid, or stored propane, continuously providing power and space and water heating even in the event of damaging storms and rolling blackouts. For military operations, it means our power device can be powered by any number of available battlefield fuels.
Our technology is not radical, but its 18 patents make it revolutionary. It’s a green solution with a long legacy you can use going forward with confidence.
